Over the past two decades, Tangier has undergone remarkable growth. The city has strengthened its position as a major industrial, economic, and tourism hub, with significant investments in infrastructure and urban development. Yet this transformation has not been matched by the same level of digital presence.
The internet has become one of the first places people turn to when they want to discover a city, find a service, get information, or simply understand a place better.

When it comes to Tangier, however, information and digital content remain scattered across different platforms and sources. Despite the city’s rich history, culture, communities, and growing opportunities, there is still no single local platform that brings these elements together in a modern, organized, and accessible way.

Tanja United was created to help fill that gap by building a digital space dedicated to Tangier and the people who live in it.
من هذه الحاجة انطلقت فكرة Tanja United : بناء فضاء رقمي محلي يجعل طنجة أكثر حضورًا وتنظيمًا في العالم الرقمي، ويقرّب التكنولوجيا من سكانها، ويسهّل الوصول إلى المعلومات والخدمات التي يحتاجون إليها في حياتهم اليومية.
But Tanja United is not meant to be just another smart city app.
Traditional smart city platforms often focus mainly on administrative services, infrastructure, and official information. While these services are important, they do not necessarily reflect the way people actually experience and interact with their city.
لكننا لا نريد أن تكون Tanja United مجرد تطبيق تقليدي من تطبيقات «المدن الذكية». فهذه المنصات تركز غالبًا على الخدمات الإدارية والبنية التحتية، وتُقدَّم من منظور مؤسساتي قد لا يعكس دائمًا الطريقة التي يعيش بها المواطن مدينته ويتفاعل معها.
We wanted to approach Tangier from a different perspective : through its people, their daily lives, the way they interact with each other, their culture, their interests, their entertainment, and everything that gives the city its unique character.
نحن نريد أن ننظر إلى طنجة من زاوية مختلفة : من زاوية أهلها وحياتهم اليومية، وطريقة تفاعلهم مع بعضهم البعض، وثقافتهم، واهتماماتهم، وطرق ترفيههم، وكل ما يمنح المدينة طابعها الخاص.
That is why Tanja United brings together practical services and useful information alongside sports, music, culture, local content, and other aspects of everyday life in Tangier.

Our goal is not simply to digitize existing services. It is to create a digital experience that feels connected to the city itself and reflects Tangier as it is lived by its people.

Our ambition is to help build a stronger digital presence for Tangier by creating a platform designed around the needs of its residents.
نسعى من خلال هذه المبادرة إلى المساهمة في سد الفراغ الرقمي المتعلق بطنجة، عبر بناء منصة متطورة برؤية محلية خالصة، تضع سكان المدينة في صميم أولوياتها، وتجعل التكنولوجيا والخدمات الرقمية أكثر قربًا وإتاحةً للجميع.
We want to make useful technology and digital services more accessible, while also creating a place where people can discover what is happening in the city, explore its culture, follow its sports, access practical information, and stay connected with local life.
Our mission also goes beyond services.
Tangier has a rich history and a constantly evolving identity. We want Tanja United to contribute to preserving that identity in the digital world by documenting and archiving information, stories, places, events, culture, sports, and other elements that make Tangier what it is.
ولا تقتصر مهمتنا على تقديم الخدمات اليومية، بل تمتد إلى توثيق وأرشفة كل ما يرتبط بالمدينة، والمساهمة في بناء ذاكرتها الرقمية، وإبراز تاريخها وثقافتها ورياضتها وحياتها اليومية، حتى تكون طنجة حاضرة بقوة في العالم الرقمي.
In the long term, we aim to build a local digital ecosystem where services, information, content, and initiatives related to Tangier can coexist in one accessible and evolving platform.

Tanja United follows a continuous improvement approach.
We are not trying to build everything at once. We focus on one subject or service at a time, launch it, learn from how people use it, and improve it based on their needs, suggestions, and feedback.
نطوّر Tanja United وفق مبدأ التحسين المستمر. لا نحاول بناء كل شيء دفعة واحدة، بل نعمل على كل موضوع وخدمة بشكل تدريجي، ثم نواصل تطويرها وتحسينها بناءً على احتياجات المستخدمين واقتراحاتهم وملاحظاتهم.
Whenever possible, we also seek to connect with organizations and institutions working in the different areas we cover. We believe that collaboration, access to reliable information, and the exchange of knowledge can make these services more useful and accurate.

Today, Tanja United is available as a free mobile application on Android and iPhone, alongside Tanja.app, which serves as the gateway to discover the platform and its different services and content.

But Tanja United is more than an app or a website.
